Posed in Daz, lighting, environment and render done in Vue, postwork done in Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro.

This render took around three weeks, from start to finish. The final render in Vue took 32 hours.

It came out well, after postwork. Really love rendering in Vue and the controls vs the controls in Daz, and very much enjoy painting and doing touch-up in Sketchbook Pro.

From the non-geek side, this image was actually a huge challenge for me. I am not a huge fan of angels by default, but really wanted to test my limits by stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something I don't normally do, but still making it my own. So I spent most of this particular project alternating between "Uuuuuugh, ANGEL" complete with flashbacks to the days of wandering through Christian bookstores with my mom as a kid and looking at the cards and plaques with bible quotes on them.... and the other half of this project going "Okay, how do we do Angel but still make a strong image that takes the focus off of "Oh, foofy-sappy Angel!" and put that focus on the content of the image?"

I could have done the evil batwing type demon-angel, or a possible statement, but wasn't feeling up to a theological statement image or going straight dark and bad ass. I really wanted to take a "Good" Angel and make him feel... real. Complete. Not just a one dimensional pretty face with wings, but someone with a goal, a mission, a purpose, a reason for being there. Depth. A bit of character. With a point of view that complimented that character, that drew the viewer in.

Lofty goals. Here's to hoping they were accomplished. <3

Let me begin by first stating there should be more than 5 stars available for Impact. And now that I am done saying that I will get on with the actual critique.

This image is just breathtaking. The use of camera orientation boggles the mind. I have seen so many images done from an angle similar to this but none have been able to capture the falling elegance this once has managed to do. Combing this factor along side the position of the wings, the light shining from the heavens and the out stretched hand you are left with a want to jump into his embrace. This image screams "take me with you."

The flare from the sun, matching up with the color of his eyes is another captivating feature of this image. It makes you truly believe that he was born of the heavens. Not to mention the softness of his wings against the contrasting gray clouds in the sky help to bring motion to the piece.

And do you see the blending work done from the wings to the skin? Sheer perfection. So many times we see wings in images and I have yet to see such attachment executed before. It is without error.

Now, let us move on to texture. His skin is flawless. Not as in not a blemish on it but in the rendering process. It looks touchable. Gentle worn hands reaching out to take you and an expression that stills the heart let you know that no matter what may come in the future, it will all be okay.

Do heavens angels truly look like this? I only dare to hope they do. This image truly deserves a standing ovation from the Seraphim.
